3D reconstruction of the Yehucal and Gedaliah bullae

Step back into ancient Jerusalem with this high-precision model, famous Hebrew seal impressions from the late First Temple period. These clay seals bear the names of Yehucal son of Shelemiah and Gedaliah son of Pashhur, royal officials archaeologically attested in the Book of Jeremiah.

Now Sheph·a·tiʹah the son of Matʹtan, Ged·a·liʹah the son of Pashʹhur, Juʹcal the son of Shel·e·miʹah, and Pashʹhur the son of Mal·chiʹjah heard the words that Jeremiah was speaking to all the people, saying – Jeremiah 38:1

Discovered in City of David excavations, they date to the late 7th–early 6th century BCE during King Zedekiah’s reign.

The bullae link directly to biblical events, as King Zedekiah sent Yehucal (Jehucal) son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the priest to Jeremiah: “Please pray to the Lord our God for us” (Jeremiah 37:3, NIV). They later heard Jeremiah’s words and plotted against him (Jeremiah 38:1, NIV): “Shephatiah son of Mattan, Gedaliah son of Pashhur, Jehukal son of Shelemiah, and Pashhur son of Malkijah heard what Jeremiah was saying to all the people.”
